So who in the end is running the country? Actively metting out decisions in an adhoc and subjective manner, distorting the rules for the people they serve. I suppose its a fringe benefit to play God..... This makes me sooooo Definitely appleal and complain about your treatment. .

Lyle - I would report this person to your MP, so should anyone else who has been disgusted with the replies from a government agency. If enough people report conversations such as the ones I have been reading about then maybe someone will take notice. They really are disgusting and dreadful.
Many people get the decision against them overturned on appeal - that really ought to be a sign that something is wrong but I don't think anyone in authority cares.
Anyway, if this government get in at the next election, anyone over 65 who is getting DLA or AA won't have to worry about it as it seems they are determined to take it away from us to fund the new Care Agency!

This is really interesting. Where do you all send your forms? Mine go to Birmingham. I had a lot of trouble with them and wrote to my MP who was useless but I also wrote to the minister concerned and no 10 and got a reply within a week. The DWP then rang me and were quite put out that I complained! Anyway they got off their backsides and I went to appeal and won. They were awkward about the fact that I won but got put in their place when I threatened to sue.
We all need to get together and find out which offices are behaving like this and take it to the top and ask for the staff to be dismissed and to have changes made and the awards made by fully trained medical people. They will carry on like this if nothing is done about them. We should get in touch with others like the MS society and get them to support us as they must have the same problems.
What do you all think?

I agree, Jayne. We have to make our complaints known to anyone or any Body outside the benefits service who may have some influence. This sort of behaviour is happening more and more with all benefits and there is also (it seems to me) efforts to create a culture where anyone receiving any kind of state benefit is branded as a lazy, cheating individual. Whilst I know there are cheats out there, I believe that the majority of people claiming benefits are genuine.
But it will require everyone who has a complaint to report it and not to give up. When you are feeling rotten, that is not easy to do. I sometimes think that that is what they rely on. It would be good if there was a central place where you could do this so a true picture of what is going on can be obtained. I can't imagine that will happen!
If it is not stopped I believe it will get worse as this country is in so much debt that any Government is going to have to find savings wherever it can and will probably not be too concerned if the benefits payout is greatly reduced - by whatever means.

Hi,
Well if someone collects up all the info and we all decide what parts of the service we are going to compain about I am sure the NRAS and other organisations will back us up. Really we need everybody who has had this type of experience to write it all down and send it to one place. I will do it if there is not a more suitable place to collect it. I wonder whether the NRAS would be the collection point but as I said if not I will. Then we send it to the Minister concerned and press for action. We could also get the papers involved as they love stories like this which show the government up in a poor light. I am sure it is not just people with RA who have the problems. We need to make ourselves heard. The DWP do not like to be put in the spotlight and have their failings made public. It is about time these little dictators got the sack and were replaced by professional staff. How about them employing a person with RA and MS at each office. They would be the best judges of what was true and what was not. What does everyone else think? Jayne
